I hope you’ve been well — it’s been a minute, as I’ve been juggling a lot and finally coming up for air as the weather warms up.
I’m pleased to report that Divergent Mind has found a home amidst several philosophically-oriented podcasts, and somehow this moment has turned into podcast/speaking season for me. I’m doing a few university talks as well as organization talks, and below are links to the podcast interviews already up.
Where We Go Next (above) was a really special interview for me, because producer/filmmaker Michael Callahan cut straight through to the heart of the book and my work and our exchange flowed, covering the transcendence of labels and frames and words and the true meaning of neurodiversity. We talked about the history of science, notions of “normal” within psych, and so much more.
I was also a guest on Meghan Daum’s The Unspeakable podcast, which is one of my favorite shows. Her interviews are the definition of “real talk” and it felt like we were huddled over warm tea outside on a late afternoon in LA or SF. She’s fantastic and we talked a lot about women’s experiences, in particular.
Next, I wanted to let you know that the special Milkweed Editions Multiverse series I’ve been supporting as a consultant finally launches this Tuesday March 8th at 5pm PST online, with several poets celebrating the debut of Hannah Emerson’s The Kissing of Kissing. Join us!
That’s it for now — another podcast episode airs in a few weeks, this time with a philosophically-oriented psychologist who pushed and challenged me, which I so appreciated and which led to beautiful insights for both of us — me as the journalist/outside observer of his field and him as the expert practitioner within his field.
I hope you’re staying well, you can always check out recent chats over on Instagram or Twitter, and I’ll be back in touch soon.
