Neurodiversity, Nuance, Racelessness
These are the writers contending with what's at stake right now.
I finally discovered a corner on Twitter that speaks to my soul (I know that sounds like an oxymoron).
So, last year I did my “Neurodivergent Authors Rocked 2020” list (which was shared on Twitter quite a bit) but as I revealed earlier this week about my concerns around the increasing loss of neurodiversity’s underlying meaning and linguistic innovation, this year I decided to focus on nuanced thinkers to help drive my point home (many of whom I connected with through Twitter as well).
These folks are concerned with nuance, as I am. The full list includes Free Black Thought, Dr. Sheena Mason, Meghan Daum, Noah Evslin at Screaming into the Hollywood Abyss, and many more. And a few of us will be sharing public conversations shortly.
Sheena and I will be talking about the intersections of neurodiversity and the Theory of Racelessness next Wednesday 12/22 at 12pm PST on Instagram Live.
And writer/podcast host Meghan Daum and I will be talking about writing and nuancing in the era of social media tomorrow 12/17 at 9am PST on Instagram Live as well.
Here’s the initial essay I published earlier this week; it’s part one of a three-part series culminating in this year’s list. It walks through my philosophical concerns and expands into the fuller conception of neurodiversity and where we’re headed.
As always, if you enjoy, please “heart” below and “clap” over on Medium. Algorithms are the strange beings we must contend with as writers in this modern era.
Stay warm,
Jenara
